The jockeys have now completed their sixth and final week of advanced training and celebrated with a graduation ceremony at the British Racing School. In this final video diary, they look back at their experiences and achievements during their time in Newmarket.
This week the jockeys are very fortunate to take part in ground-breaking scientific research and they learn about the impact of the jockey’s position on the horse. A day at Nottingham racecourse gives them the opportunity to watch amateur and professional jockeys in action.
The jockeys have started riding the racehorses at Darley’s pre-training yard and the world famous Godolphin stables in Newmarket. We watch them exercise the horses and get a very good view of what the jockeys see when on the horse.
The six jockeys are now halfway through their training course at the British Racing School This week, see how they learn to start from the stalls for the first time.
The jockeys have just completed their second week of training – a week which focused on the important lesson of how to fall! This week they were also able to attend the Guineas meeting at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile Racecourse. The 2,000 Guineas is the first of five Classic races held each year in the UK.
