Interns announced for the 2016 Dubai International Thoroughbred Internships programme

The newest intake of Chinese university graduates to join the Dubai International Thoroughbred Internships (DITI) programme has been announced.

DITI is a ten-month fully-funded internship offering extensive practical thoroughbred industry experience for recent Chinese university graduates.

Since its inception in 2012, more than 75 interns have graduated from the programme. Many are now forging careers within the thoroughbred industry, working for companies including the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Inner Mongolia Rider Horse Group and Magic Millions in Australia. Some are employed by top companies outside of the equine industry, including Falcon and Associates, the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing in Dubai, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte and Roland Berger Strategy Consultants. Others have decided to continue their studies, including on Darley Flying Start, Dubai Business Internships programme and at the London Business School.

The interns will commence the course in July with a two-week induction in Shanghai, after which they will be based at a Godolphin or Darley location in the UK, Ireland, America, Australia or Japan.

Next March, they will have the opportunity to travel to Dubai to learn more about how Sheikh Mohammed has realised his vision for the Emirate in recent decades. While in Dubai, they will attend the Dubai World Cup, one of the most prestigious race meetings in the world. They will then travel from Dubai to Hong Kong for their graduation ceremony.

DITI training manager Sidney Tam said, “We are delighted to announce the fifth intake of Dubai International Thoroughbred Internships, which has already provided numerous trainees with the opportunity to explore the global thoroughbred breeding and racing industry and to learn from Godolphin and Darley, leading organisations within the industry. We are looking forward to welcoming this group of 21 young Chinese to teach them about the breeding and racing, Dubai and the UAE in the coming months.”
