During our internship, we have participated in many equine industrial visits, including auctions, JRA and NAR race meetings, training centers, quarantine facilities, equine hospitals and many more. What we have gained, in both academic knowledge and practical experience, are very valuable.
The DITI program has also offered us many magnificent experiences. We have flown to Osaka to enjoy the ‘Oka Sho’ surrounded by lovely pink Sakura. We have made it through night watch on cold Hokkaido winter nights, welcoming new baby foals into to the world. We have also experienced leading horses in a sales ring, waiting for the hammer to fall. All of these experiences were unlike anything we had ever done before and will be etched in our minds forever.
What DITI has brought us is not only the experience of caring for horses, but also the understanding of different cultures.
During our stay in Japan, we have been to the ‘Snow Festival’ in Sapporo, admiring the fantastic snow and ice sculptures. We have enjoyed the draft horse racing, which can only be seen in Japan. We have been fortunate to visit many local festivals and events.
Our education was not limited to Japanese culture during our internship, but also Dubai, which we experienced first-hand during our visit there. After seeing the luxurious Burj Al Arab Hotel, the magnificent Burj Khalifa and the outstanding facilities at the financial business centers, we were all amazed by Dubai, a multi-national, open city in the desert.
